Obituary for Helen Marie Sheets

Helen Marie Gleason Sheets, age 80, of Chincoteague Island, VA, died peacefully Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 26, 1937 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Louis B. and Lois A. Whitlock Gleason. She is preceded in death by her first husband Donald W. Cleveland the father of her two daughters. Helen was the wife of William Boyd Sheets Jr., her husband of almost 35 years.

Helen was formerly employed with the National Bank of Washington, retiring in 1990. She was a Master Basket Weaver and a member of The Tidewater Basketry Guild. Helen was also a member of the Three C’s of Chincoteague, she also enjoyed time with her husband fishing, taking strolls on the beach, as well as spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughters, Bonnie Teague and husband Gary of Knoxville, MD; Elaine Cleveland of Deltona, FL; grandsons, Jeremy and Michaele Teague of Frederick, MD; Chris and Jamie Teague of Williamsport, MD; Daniel Cleveland and Jakob Cleveland, both of Delton, FL; great-grandchildren, Grace, Ethan, Reilly, Caroline, Gavin and Sophie; and sisters, Diane Nolan of Rockville, MD; and Susan Myer of Frederick, MD; and she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Louis B. Gleason Jr. in 2006.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Bonnie Teague in Knoxville, MD. With a future service at St. Andrews Church with internment at the church Mausoleum in Chincoteague VA.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
