Herbert Harold Morris, age 74, of Columbia, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Howard County General Hospital, following a battle with hepatopulmonary syndrome.

Born January 17, 1943 in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of the late Walter Isaac Morris and Leona Bell Johnson Morris. He was the husband of Robin Sargent-Morris. They have been together for 38 years and married for 24 years.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam era. He was a life-time mechanic and owned several gas stations in Montgomery County and then worked in telecommunications as a contractor for the government.

In his younger years he enjoyed scuba diving and more recently loved riding his Harley, fishing and hunting. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Samantha Rae Moore and husband Cary Edward of Ellicott City and Brittany Leigh Morris of Columbia; and a grandson, Jackson Edward Moore.

The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home - Libertytown, 11802 Liberty Road, Frederick on Sunday, May 7 from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. Deacon Charles Barnhart Jr. will officiate.
