Obituary

Mark Stephen Scaglione, age 64, of New Market, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born May 2, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Emery R. and Rita Rose Golias Scaglione.
Mark was a 1975 graduate of University of Maryland with a degree in criminology. He was employed as an assistant manager at Safeway. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Libertytown and enjoyed photography, collecting antiques and was a caregiver for his father who died on April 7. He was a kind, caring, loving man who will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his loving daughter, Lindsay Scaglione of Poolesville; sisters, Linda Short of Phoenix, AZ, Judith Flynn and husband William of Hampstead and Joan Durham and husband Richard of Mt. Airy; a brother, William E. Scaglione and wife Jan of Middletown and nieces and nephews, Nathan, Luke, Melissa, Ryan, Adrian, Katie, Amy, Julie, Jennifer, John and Robert.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Jason Worley as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 1.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of St. Peter's Catholic Church, 9190 Church St., Union Bridge, MD 21791.
