Edward Buckey Garver, age 93, of New Windsor, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Lorien Health Systems in Taneytown, Maryland.
Born June 25, 1923 in Linwood, Maryland he was the son of Roscoe Garver and Fannie Dorsey Garver. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Null Garver.
Mr. Garver was employed in the dairy industry for fifty years. Additionally, he received recognition from the State of Maryland for his dedicated service in the industry. He served as a field representative with Koontz Creamery, Capital Milk Producers and Maryland Virginia Milk Producers, from which he retired in December of 1992. Buckey served in the Maryland Minute Men, created by Governor O'Conor during World War II.
He was the last surviving charter member of the New Windsor Lions Club and was a lifelong, active member of Linwood Brethren Church, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir for many years.
He is survived by a niece, Jane B. Wantz of Westminster, Maryland; and three nephews, Paul G. Garver of Taneytown, Maryland, Richard L. Garver of Westminster, Maryland and Robert Garver of Canby, Oregon.
He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth G. Wantz; and brother, Paul S. Garver, both of New Windsor, Maryland.
The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor on Friday, April 21 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Linwood Brethren Church, 575 McKinstrys Mill Rd., Union Bridge, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dan Ceary, his pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Winters Cemetery, New Windsor.
