Obituary for Robert E. Lee Hargett II

Robert E. Lee “Mark” Hargett II, 54, of Frederick, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 28, 2017. Born February 19, 1963 in Frederick, he was the son of Robert E. Lee Hargett I of Hanover, PA and Diana Wetzel Peckaitis of Frederick and stepson of George Ramer of Frederick.
Mark proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1980 – 1984. While he had a variety of work experience, Mark excelled as a geological engineer and remained in that field until health issues necessitated his early retirement. He enthusiastically embraced his Native American heritage and collected many related items; he also enjoyed collecting early “ROCK” memorabilia and loved to cook, especially for his family. His engaging personality put anyone he met at ease.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, he is survived by twin stepdaughters, Casey and Victoria Morgan; brother, Christopher Shaff and wife Jill and niece Kaitlin Shaff; half-sisters, Rhonda Hargett Babin and Sheila Rae Hargett; uncle, Larry Moore; cousins, Marion Toms and Barbara McCoy and friend, John Angeletti. He was predeceased by grandparents, Alice and Tilden Moore.
A funeral service will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, with Rev. Jerry Cline, pastor of Liberty-Central United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Linganore Cemetery, Unionville.
