Obituary for Richard Monroe Wilson, Jr.

Richard Monroe Wilson, Jr. age 68, of Union Bridge, died suddenly Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home from a heart attack. Born June 23, 1949 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Richard M. Wilson Sr. and M. Virginia Mann Wilson. He was the husband of L. Marie Davidson Wilson, his wife of 45 years.
Dick was a 1968 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. He was a member of Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren where he served on the Steward’s Commission and the church board. As a master electrician he was the owner and operator of Richard M. Wilson Jr., Electrical Contractor. Dick was a member of Carroll County Electrical Contractors Association and was an honorary member of the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Co. and New Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, attending steam engine and old car shows and spending time with his grandsons.
In addition to his wife he is survived by twin grandsons, Ethan Richard and Brody Thomas Wilson of Hanover, PA; sisters, Kathleen Klinger and husband George of Finksburg and Joyce Myers and husband W. Richard of Union Bridge; brother, Gene Wilson and wife Darlene of Westminster; daughter-in-law, Jennifer D. Wilson of Hanover; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Priddy of Malvern, PA, Martha Welch and husband Karl of Smithsburg and Ann Kirby of Florida; brothers-in-law, Dr. John Davidson and wife Cathy of Clear Spring, Jerry Davidson and wife Esther and Allan Davidson, all of Westminster and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Chad R. Wilson in March.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26 at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church, 2101 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg, with Rev. Steve Lowe, Dick’s pastor and Rev. Robert Wellman, Sandy Mount pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sandy Mount Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 25 at Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren, 26 Pipe Creek Rd., Union Bridge and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at Sandy Mount U. M. Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to: the Ethan and Brody Wilson Benefit Fund and sent to PNC Bank, 452 Eisenhower Dr., Hanover, PA 17331.
