Obituary for Dennis Wilson Douds

Dennis Wilson Douds, age 73, of Walkersville, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home. Born December 26, 1944 in Warren, PA, he was the son of the late James Carl Douds and Bernice Anderegg Douds. He was the husband of Carmela Campanella Douds, his wife of 46 years.
In 2014, Dennis retired from Bechtel Power Corporation after a career of over 44 years. Dennis was a recognized expert in the design of the sophisticated systems that control the operation of power plants. During his tenure with Bechtel, he worked on plants fueled by nuclear energy, natural gas, naptha, coal, refuse, and solar energy. Dennis traveled extensively throughout the US, and to India, the UK, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Egypt in support of the construction and operation of these plants.

Mr. Douds was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Libertytown. He enjoyed traveling the world, with his loving wife, for work and pleasure.
In addition to his wife he is survived by children, Amanda Oetken and husband Michael of Mt. Airy; Emily Pieklo and husband Timothy, Benjamin Douds and wife Erin and Andrew Douds and wife Katie, all of Walkersville; Abigail Ring and husband Thomas of Lancaster, PA; Margaret Shaffer and husband Cory of Delmar; SrA James Douds, of Wichita, KS and SrA Micah Douds, of Valparaiso, FL; 20 grandchildren, Grace, Gabe, Jonah, Joey, Luke, Nate, Evalyn, Ben, Julianna, Jacob, Lorenzo, Carmela, Dominic, Gina, Anna, Lucy, Francis, Clara, Rebecca and Lillian; brother, David Douds and wife Judy of Catonsville; sister, Linda Logue and husband Wayne of Hermitage, PA and several loving nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 25 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Gene Nickol, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown 1- 3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 24.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 9190 Church St., Union Bridge, MD 21791.
