Obituary for Chauncey M. Crum

Chauncey Meredith Crum, age 96, formerly of Woodsboro, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center of Frederick. Born July 30, 1922 in Walkersville, he was the son of the late Hanson E. and Katie Dinterman Crum. He was married to Betty Stottlemyer Crum for 64 years prior to her death in 2006.
Mr. Crum farmed with his father for many years in the Walkersville and New Midway areas. In 1958 he and Betty opened the Towne Restaurant in Woodsboro which they operated for 30 years until retiring in 1988.
Chauncey loved attending auctions and collecting early farm pieces and many bottle openers. He was a charter member of the Woodsboro Bowman's Club and was a member of the Walkersville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are son, Jerry M. Crum and wife Peggy of Woodsboro; grandson, Travis M. Crum currently of Chicago, IL; step grandchildren, Dan Boone and wife Robin, and Debbie Hissey and husband Bryan and their children Jake and Abby, all of Frederick and many nieces and nephews. Chauncey was the last of his immediate family and was predeceased by a brother and six sisters.
A private graveside service will be held at Rocky Hill Cemetery, near Woodsboro, with Rev. Dahl Drenning officiating.
