Obituary for Betty W. Crum

Betty Warner Crum, age 84, of Woodsboro, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at HeartFields at Frederick. Born August 24, 1933 in Lisbon, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Reba M. Crabtree Warner. She was the wife of Charles Henry Crum who died in 2011.
Betty was a 1950 graduate of Lisbon High School. She was member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Woodsboro, where she held several offices and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Co. She had been employed at the Woodsboro Bank from 1961 to 1997 and enjoyed sewing, making many of her own clothes, curtains and bedding, cooking and baking. Betty loved to host the family holiday gatherings and to travel, especially to Naples, FL.
Surviving are sons, Donald W. Crum and wife Marsha of Port St. Lucie, FL, Gary A. Crum and wife Teresa of Monrovia; 3 grandchildren, Kiona Black and husband Christopher of Thurmont, Josh Crum and wife Elizabeth and Jessica Crum and fiance Drew Newsome, all of Monrovia; 2 step-grandchildren, Matthew and Mark Hershman of Hagerstown; 5 great grandchildren, Wyatt, Nathan and Eaves Black and Kyleigh and Alexander Crum; a brother, John Warner and wife Lorraine of Lakeworth, FL; sister-in-law, Helen Hubbard of Hagerstown; goddaughter, Susie Cobb and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Lewis Warner and his wife Nina.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 2 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, with close family friend, Rev. Dahl Drenning and her pastor, Rev. Sean Delawder, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew and Mark Hershman, Glenn Richmond, Sheridan Smith, Wayne Burall and Mike Dorsey.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John's U.C.C., 8 Second St., Woodsboro, MD 21798.
The family would like to thank the professional and caring staff of HeartFields at Frederick.
